High above the oceans deep

High above the oceans deep,
you see sailing ships with crews who don't sleep,
the land is green yet the people weep,
there are no walls, no adorned keeps,
Across the deep dark waters,
you find land with only slaughter,
so ships are send sailing,
to people wailing,
up the river they go,
to meet their approaching foe,
battle ensured, wild and fierce,
but their ranks hold, they couldn’t pierce,
yet still the day was lost,
for it had a terrible cost,
for the mountain was breached,
and the capital besieged,
and no captain nor king,
could lift the siege,
and now the maidens sing,
about death and blood in spring,
they had to withdrew,
with survivors, so few,
to the land of statues high,
and eagles flying through the sky,
yet they couldn’t prevent,
a host from being sent,
their defences cracked,
and so Iontách was sacked,
so they went away,
and witnessed the grimmest day,
they hid behind walls, wide and tall,
until the rain began to fall,
the ground began to tremble,
they had to go down,
the host must assemble,
to save the crown,
the gods send forth their host,
and they destroyed the army of a ghost,
and so before the walls of Ealon,
the battle was won,
yet no feast was given,
for certain deeds were not forgiven,
so there they sat, in dungeons cold,
our heralds, their fate yet to be unfold,
from over the sea they came,
as savages, hunted down,
trying to clear their name,
hunted by the golden crown,
two souls were parted,
never to be free,
charged for a war,
they had not started,
parted by the sea,
they would never be free,
for it was his desire,
that one burned in fire,
two roads were taken,
yet one goal remained,
trees were shaken,
yet no answers were gained,
and so it started,
a mighty war that took many a life,
the brave, the fierce all departed,
all to end an ancient strife,
yet not all, is lost,
yet not all, will last,
survive will, not all,
for one must fall,
one must end,
this endless war,
for ancient lore,
they must kill their friend,
their fate is grim,
and light grows dim,
there is no salvation,
in song or hymn,
in the darkest of hours,
friends will be lost,
for foes will leave their towers,
and borders will be crossed,
splintered were spears,
shaken were shields,
they caused only tears,
on bloody fields,
all must come to aid,
kings and lords,
for darkness to fade,
they must draw swords,
yet it will not away,
by mighty blows,
nor tightened bows,
for only one can slay,
dreams are shattered,
souls driven apart,
minds are battered,
darkened is the heart,
two souls clash,
one must survive,
the other turns to ash,
so the world may thrive.
